WORK EXPERIENCE

Throughout my life I have had a variety of work experiences from being a ballet assistant teacher to working in large companies such as E.ON and Accenture. Each of these experiences have provided me with insights and skills that make me a better asset in the workplace.

June 2017 - May 2018

PRESIDENT, UCL WOMENS ENGINEERING SOCIETY

I was responsible for running and organising the events. I created links with the industry so that our members were offered career advice and volunteering. I also partnered with a school in Ghana to offer a mentoring scheme. I also joined with Work Ready Graduates to offer our members free online courses.

Further, I worked on a series of podcasts for our members to give young graduates answers on how to be authentic and promote themselves both in the workplace and in life.

MARKETING MANAGER, UCL WOMEN IN ENGINEERING SOCIETY

My responsibilities included; producing high quality graphics for events, managing the social media accounts and posting articles about engineering and science as well as promoting our speaker events and socials. September 2017

STUDENT INTERN, HURLEYPALMERFLATT

I learnt what goes into the design process on all aspects of the building from building management services to the plumbing of the building and legalities of the whole process. I helped projects and had some on site experience surveying buildings to assess what needed to be done and writing reports about it afterwards.

Throughout this week I learnt how to use IES and Sketchup with various personalised plugins the company had created. I contributed especially to the sustainability department and learnt how London plans to cope with global warming from a construction perspective. It was a very enjoyable experience and packed with revising what I had learnt in my university course and applying it to the workplace.

September 2011- January 2013

BALLET TEACHER ASSISTANT, LEADER SCHOOL OF DANCE

This was a Saturday morning job where I would assist my ballet teacher Miss Diane with both the pre-primaries and primaries. This job was greatly rewarding and involved a lot of one-to-one help with the girls who had more trouble making certain moves as well as demonstrating in front of the class. I greatly enjoyed this job because I could see a group of girls grow over the two years and see how they progressed from not being able to skip to being able to Sautée in rhythm.

July 2013

WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENT, FOSTER AND PARTNERS

This was a week-long experience where I shadowed a head architect who had a team designing a residential area in Hong-Kong with a shopping centre and offices. I learnt how they make decisions, and how they communicate including various conference calls. I also had access to the materials library and did my own research throughout.

July 2012

WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENT, SIR ROBERT MACALPINE

I shadowed many civil and mechanical engineers around the workplace as well as viasiting the building site and shadowing builders. The building is now standing in Victoria Street and is called 62 Buckingham gate.
